Overview
The University of Notre Dame, established in 1842, is a private university located in South Bend, Indiana. The University of Notre Dame's enrollment is just over 12,000 students. The Fighting Irish participate in NCAA Division I athletics and are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The women's volleyball team is led by head coach Jim McLaughlin and associate head coach, Mike Johnson. Katie Wilson and Tucker Bitting are assistant coaches.

With head coach Jim McLaughlin entering his second year, the women's volleyball team looks to be more dominant in the upcoming season. The women's volleyball team focuses on excellence and great teamwork. The entire volleyball staff is on a mission to bring a national championship to Notre Dame.

A December 2013 Xavier graduate and two-year staff member of the Xavier University volleyball team, Kevin Prendergast joined the University of Notre Dame volleyball program as the operations specialist in March 2014 and enters his third year with the Irish in 2016.
Prendergast, who graduated from Xavier in December with a degree in sport management, assists the Irish program with practices, matches and travel in addition to other daily responsibilities. He also uses the computer program Data Volley to scout opponents by creating detailed statistical reports.
With Xavier, Prendergast was the volleyball team's Technical Advisor under the direction of former Musketeers head coach and current Notre Dame associate head coach Mike Johnson. Prendergast was responsible for Data Volley, which helped tally stats on the Musketeers and their opponents. Prendergast also put together film on opponents and worked on in-game trends to pass along to the coaching staff.
Prendergast learned Data Volley from Nate Ngo, the current Technical Advisor for the U.S. Men's National Team.
He has designed a number of statistical models for use in volleyball and continues to look for additional ways to analyze the game.
A club men's volleyball player at Xavier in 2011-12, Prendergast served as the service chair for the team during the year.
Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Prendergast graduated from De Smet Jesuit High School.
